Technical Forecast

Forecast Period...

Temperatures for the forecast period will be in the mid 30's to lower 40's. Monday's high temperature will be in the mid 30's with winds coming from the northeast becoming easterly. Expect a low pressure system to strengthen off southern New Jersey and track to the northeast as it will create poor conditions for Connecticut. The track of this low pressure system is indicative of a wet snow/ rain event for much of the state. The shoreline area should expect snow to begin Monday Night (5 pm) and become heavier around 8 pm. As this low pressure system moves northeastward cyclonic flow will allow for some warm air advection into our area. This warmer air will allow for a change over for the shoreline area. Rain fall amounts for the shoreline will amount to around an inch to an inch and a half by storms end. Further inland temperatures will remain near freezing allowing for mix conditions. Expect snow totals to be generally 2-4" for much of the state, with the exception being higher elevated areas. An area of precaution however is needed for interior Connecticut as there may be a period of freezing rain and sleet. This will make for dangerous driving conditions. Expect winds to be gusting to 30 mph Tuesday Night as this storm makes its way out of our forecast area.

Please continue to watch wxextreme for any updates to the forecast.
